Mission Statement

Kaleidoscope Kids of Toronto is a registered charity dedicated to providing physical, educational, cultural and social opportunities for children and youth in our community. We strive to foster a sense of confidence, self-worth and respect as well as a strong sense of community.

Social Responsibility

The world is a very inter-connected place, and we are aware of this. We strive both to be and to develop responsible, upstanding citizens. This means genuinely caring about our members, leading by example, and being accountable to all our stakeholders. We aim to be environmentally friendly and community-focused, encouraging of healthy lifestyles, and to leave a positive impression on everyone we encounter.

Respect for Each Other

This starts at the top, and works its way through the entire organization. Respect on all levels. No tolerance for discrimination or harassment. Valuing people for their contribution to society above all else. We give respect to our members, our staff, our volunteers and our resources, and we expect the same from them.

Teamwork

As an organization that started in a housing co-operative, this is very important. No individual can accomplish everything in life alone. We will demonstrate the value and importance of team building and teamwork, both in our activities and in life in general, and how a strong team will always lead to greater success in achieving goals.

Empowerment

Knowledge is power, and with the right knowledge, encouragement and guidance, all young people can grow into independent, responsible and productive members of society. With programs that will engage, enlighten and entertain, we aim to give our members the tools to make good life choices, create a passion for knowledge and learning, and develop their leadership skills and sense of community.

Accessibility and Affordability

We believe that any child or youth, without proper engagement, direction and guidance, can become “at-risk” for anti-social activity, regardless of their economic, social or cultural background. Boredom and a need to belong know no boundaries. Membership is open to everyone in our community, and we aim to make our programs as accessible and affordable as possible, and to offer assistance to those who need it.

Fiscal Responsibility

As an organization that depends on the community for support, we are committed to being an open and accountable organization, allowing every member or supporter the opportunity to become fully engaged in our operations, and to make everyone’s contribution appreciated, accounted for, and well utilized.
